Disney Star retains media rights for next four years

Disney Star won the bid for their new closed-loop network after beating out competitors such as Sony, Zee and Viacom18

The International Cricket Council announced on Saturday evening that Disney Star has retained the rights

The network won this closed-loop bid process after beating rivals, such as Sony Pictures Television India Limited (S Pie), Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd.

The bidding for the media rights to ICC and Disney-Star has reached an unprecedented level.

With nearly $4 billion on offer, it is not surprising that neither company wants their competitors getting first dibs!

when these deals were sole-sourced in 2008 and 2009 at an average annual rate over four years

worth $87 million dollars with one negotiated agreement lasting till 2015!

All four broadcasters had submitted their bids after protesting about the lack of transparency
